Objectivity is where a reality is independent of what you may or may not perceive. Regardless of how you may look at something, it may or may not seem true while the objective truth is independent of that. It doesn’t need our perception; in turn, we almost rely on it.
The objective of this life seems to be a truth that most people follow. That is the objective of succeeding in this life. Whether that means through getting a 9-5 job, getting a nice car, living in a mansion, or having fame and fortune; they are all objectives that many people want.
These are the worldly objectives, independent of us. But there is a greater objective out there. And that is far beyond this life.
The truth is, there is a life beyond death. That life is eternal. There exists either Heaven or Hell, and they are the abodes objective to our perception. Whether you believe it or not, they exist. Whether you believe it or not, you will be judged. Whether you believe it or not, there is a God who will judge between what you used to do.
Speaking of which, that brings the topic of the most objective truth. And that is Allah. He is our Creator and our Master. He helps you, feeds you, shelters you, and provides for you. Without Allah’s help we are nothing. We have no knowledge, power, or honor except from Allah. And in fact, the truth is, He doesn’t need our worship. He doesn’t need us…so then why should we worship He who is free of need?
Simply put: because we need Him. As mentioned, we are provided sustenance by our Lord, who is our Protector, our Helper, and Supporter of all. Without His help we can’t do anything in this world nor the next. Without that help we won’t succeed in life and life will be like a mirage where at the end no salvation will be found, but one will be stranded in an eternal desert of misery. He only delays the punishment for the disbelievers, but then he will make all their work like dust which will be blown away and gone forever. The believers on the other hand may face trials in life, because Allah hastens the trials for them because He loves them. What is this world but a temporary pit stop until you reach your final destination, anyway?
"If Allah wants to do good to somebody, He afflicts him with trials." –Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
It’s not all up to our perception to judge between right and wrong. It’s not all about your gut feeling. There is an example that is set before humanity to follow in order to judge between right and wrong. Through this example we can find the objective truth, and it’s not all based up to your gut feeling as much of society has brought up people to believe. And that example is the final Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
“You have indeed in Allah’s Messenger an excellent pattern of conduct for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and who engages much in the praise of Allah.” (Qu’ran Surah al-Ahzâb: 21)
To follow the true path, do research. Don’t remain idle and expect only your gut to guide you. After all, in Islam, it is our personal desires that lead us astray. Just basing things off of assumption is a faulty method of reasoning.
“And they have thereof no knowledge. They follow not except assumption, and indeed, assumption avails not against the truth at all.” (Qu’ran 53:28)
Following whims is a way for the devils to misguide you. They want you to follow desires, while Allah wants to forgive you. Ask Him for guidance.
Ironically, the truth though isn’t too hard to find. You already have it with you. You just have to do the work to confirm it on the outside. And that is the path of Islam.
“And believe in what I have sent down confirming that which is [already] with you, and be not the first to disbelieve in it. And do not exchange My signs for a small price, and fear [only] Me.” (Qu’ran 2:41)
By reading and learning about Islam, you can see what’s true and what’s not. You can figure out the truth by delving into Islam. And that is the objective truth. You believe with your heart, and you confirm by reading the Holy Qu’ran and the Prophet traditions of Prophet Muhammad (SWS). Therein you will find hope and fear in Allah, and you will find your answers.
Knowledge is power. So the more you learn and understand, the more you unveil yourself from the shrouds of ignorance. Learn the way of peace; the way of truth; the way of submission. And you will find the objective truth within and beyond.
