The minor day of judgment occurs to every soul at the time of death. That is because it has no chance of returning to repentance anymore, and its time for that has ended. It will afterwards meet the Day of Judgment, and there is no way to go back now. A barrier is placed behind them, closing off the doors to repentance. And now you must face your reality. Did you live a life of piety? Did you follow the true way of Islam? Or did you deny the truth while you knew? You will be finally held accountable for everything you ever did and didn't do.
Upon the Day of Judgment, every soul will be judged accordingly. No single soul will be dealt unjustly.
We must think about what's going to happen to us after death often, for this world is by no means going to last forever. But besides that, how long are we as humans going to last for the one life we have?
The world is like the timing of part of a day. He (God) will say, “How many years did you stay on the earth?” They will say: “We stayed a day or part of a day....” (Quran, 23:112-113)
The Prophet Muhammad (SWS) said: "The value of this world compared to that of the Hereafter is like what your finger brings from the sea when you put it in and then take it out."
The ones whose deeds will be heavy on the day of judgment will be successful, while the ones whose deeds will be light will fail. The former will enter in complete sound security into Paradise forever while the latter will enter into complete distress destruction into the Hellfire forever.
"Then as for him whose balance (of good deeds) will be heavy, He will live a pleasant life (in Paradise). But as for him whose balance (of good deeds) will be light, He will have his home in Hawiyah (pit, i.e. Hell). And what will make you know what it is? (It is) a hot blazing Fire!" (Qu'ran 101:6-11)
When a trouble strikes you, don't fret. Those who believe always say "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we will return." They know that this life is temporary and the end is led back to Allah.
Those who love to meet Allah (SWT), Allah (SWT) loves to meet them. And those who hate to meet Allah (SWT), Allah (SWT) hates to meet him.
Prophet (SWS) said: “Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah will love to meet him, and whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah will hate to meet him.”
The end can be any moment. We don't usually have many moments to prepare for death, because the Angel of Death can sneak up on us any moment. Our prescribed time of death is unknown. But the end is certain.
So if that end is certain, why is it so hard to believe the final end is certain? The end that we will return to Allah, be judged according to the best of our deeds, and will either go to Paradise or Hell? That is the true certainty, and those with piety know that truth. And they will do whatever it takes to get out of the latter and make it to the former.
The end is nigh, as close as an hour might be. So which path will you choose?
