Spirit remains silent
Mind wanders, curious
Away from the subconscious island
Across a sea, mysterious.
Uncertainty, an impending illness
Patience, a covert cure
When the ocean hath stillness
Hold onto the Trust secure.
To a fro you go
Between the waves of your desires
Despite your tries there seems-to-be no
Water to douse the fires.
Left in darkness, struggle, confusion
Lost without a light-house guide
Upon the sea of your mind’s illusion
With its relentless, merciless tide.
Calamity is inevitably incumbent
Upon those who strive for truth
But mercy is truly God-sent
To the patient and pure as proof.
Within the storm, you cry and plea
For salvation back to land
To whence you came, out of the sea
To once again on two legs to stand.
Within the cyclone you see a white light
So ephemeral, so sudden, so brief
Realizing that in regards to plight
Verily, for every hardship, there is relief.
Clarity encompasses the ominous clouds
From the confusion you quickly arise
Lifted from the heart’s shroud
That was once your own demise.
Wind sails you back to shore
Rejoicing, you return with glee
Strangely enough you suddenly desire more
But then you remember…your helpless plea.
Across the waters you intently gaze
And despite that the pain was gone and done,
To the heavens your face you lift and raise
And praise the most Merciful One.
